Venue House was once an auction site for slaves and live stock in the 18th Century. The building was restored and opened as the Pompey Museum in September 1992. The museum is named for the slaves, Pompey, Who led a successful revolt at Steventon, Exuma, one of five plantations owned by Lord Rolle. The exhibit displays artifacts, historical documents and drawings depicting the historical and cultural experience of The Bahamas.
